Christmas is around the corner and I know some people have traditions that they do every year with their family. In my family, my great-grandmother (may she rest in peace) made batches of chocolate chip cookies for everyone in the family. Everyone knew to expect their personal batch on Christmas Eve.
It is important to point out that, Granny wasn't a spring chicken (93 years old going on 52) and she never used a blender! Everything was hand mixed with a spatula or a spoon!
On my college breaks, I made my way to her house and gave her a helping hand. I was ready! Pen and paper in hand I asked granny, “who taught you this famous recipe?” She said, “Oh, I just use the recipe on the back of TollHouse Chocolate Chip Cookies bag.” I fell out laughing!
Til' this day, I always make me a batch of cookies this time of year for my family and remember granny. If you’re in the mood to make chocolate chip cookies, check out the TollHouse cookie recipe on the back of the package but Granny did add a few personal touches to it so check out some tips below.
1. Make sure eggs and butter are at room temperature
2. Sift the flour
3. Add an additional tablespoon of vanilla extract to the batter
4. Butter the cookie sheet
Hope you all enjoy! Just a little holiday humor!
