It's the Holiday season! Celebrate the end of the year with a homemade delicious apple pie. This apple pie is perfect for Friendsgiving, Thanksgiving, or Christmas!
If you want to make the apple pie extra special, head to your local orchard and try some delicious apples that you typically can't find in stores.
What I love about going to our local Orchard is that there are so many seasonal options and a great variety of apples. The apples that I chose this year are Winesap apples. Winesap apples are crisp and extra juicy that would make your apple pie special this Holiday season!
The recipe is available below!
Set aside 2 pie shells on the counter. Wash and dry your apples and place them next to a big bowl. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Peel one apple at a time and slice them thinly and place them in a bowl. Sprinkle cinnamon on apple EACH time you peel and slice.
Once you're done peeling, slicing, and seasoning the apples with cinnamon THEN add granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, a dash of nutmeg, and a dash of cloves. Mix all of the ingredients together.
Once done mixing, add the mixture in one of the pie shells. Take the other pie shell and place it on top of the other pie crust with the mixture in it.
Cut strips of aluminum foil (about 3) and place the strips around the crust to prevent the crust from burning.
Place the pie in the oven for about 50 minutes.
Remove the aluminum foil strips 10 minutes before taking out the pie.
Once the pie is done baking, set it on the counter and let cool for 15 - 20 minutes before serving.
